FAMILY WELLNESS INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

The Family Wellness Instructor Training is an interactive, three-day, 24 hour workshop that provides certification for facilitators to instruct families in their community using the Family Wellness programs. It is designed for educators, mental health professionals, ministers, social workers, employee assistance workers, therapists, community leaders, and others interested in helping families.

In the training you will learn the theoretical foundation of the Family Wellness model, and how to help families change. We also teach you how to develop your own Family Wellness series, funding and marketing techniques, and how to work with a variety of audiences, including children.

WHO USES FAMILY WELLNESS?
Therapists and counselors use Family Wellness as an effective tool in negotiating family conflict. Schools use this program to strengthen families for the success of their children. Social Services use this model for family preservation, as well as child abuse prevention and intervention for court-ordered parenting. Churches use the curriculum in family and youth ministries. Other community agencies use Family Wellness to involve parents with their children and mentors of like ages to prevent pregnancy among teenagers. Additional communities:

YOUR TRAINING INCLUDES:

  • The Survival Skills for Healthy Families Instructor Manual
  • A flash drive of handouts from the Survival Skills series
  • A Survival Skills for Healthy Families Workbook

You will learn how to:

  • Strengthen Positive Family Behavior
  • Help Families Change
  • Develop Your Own Family Wellness Series
  • Use eight interactive strategies, including coaching and sculpting

INSTRUCTOR RECERTIFICATION

In order to maintain quality assurance and on-going updates for our instructors, we require a re-certification process. Re-certification as a Family Wellness Instructor requires any of the following by the end of your third year of certification:

Attending Day Two only during another 3-day FW instructor training

  • Attending an Advanced training which includes a one-day training – usually on Domestic Violence, Stepfamilies, Coaching or one of the Institutes at the annual Smart Marriages Conference.
  • Mail a video recording for our review (20 – 30 minutes) of you teaching your favorite F.W. session. You will receive written feedback, suggestions, re-certification or suggested actions for re-certification. Following are the criteria used to measure re-certification:
  1. Connection with your audience
  2. Voice projection
  3. Use of role plays
  4. Coaching
  5. Teamwork (if working with a partner)
  6. Audience involvement
  7. Content

Fee: The cost for recertification is $150. Family Wellness Instructor Recertification is in effect for five years from the date of renewal.
